I outfit for a living, and most of the animals we harvest are during low light times of the day. The Cronus allows so much light in, it has made spotting and assessing the game easier and faster. These are the clearest binos I have owned and the 8×42 size are convenient and light to carry for long walks through the field

I took up birding 4 years ago and have been through as many binoculars. I started with pair of Celestrons moved on to the Carson’s. After a couple of years I went to what I thought was a great bino in the Vortex Viper, and still use on occasion. I read a review on the Athlon Cronus 8.5’s and had to try them. The .5 make a difference and the quality impresses me. I like the large focus adjustment and feel of the binos as well as the ease of use of the diopter adjustment.
I was in the field today with other birders and compared the weight with a Leica and Nikon Monarch bino and noticed how much lighter my Cronus felt.
I purchased a pair of Zeiss Victory HT, 8X42 binos a few months ago, but will be selling them and make the Cronus my main gun for birding, good for the woods and the shores with my Vortex Vipers a standby.
My only complaint is that the central hinge seems to give a little more than it should, but does not impact performance.
