Description
If you ask any hunter they’ll probably tell you they have filled more tags in the low-light hours than any other time. With that said, it would be wise to design a scope to excel in early-morning and late-evening light. With the Talos scope with Athlon Advanced multi-coated lenses for clarity and brightness in low light, you’ll be able to add precious minutes to every hunting day. These scopes, with their 4X magnification range, will give you great versatility whether you are hunting whitetails in the dense southern pine forest of Georgia, or prairie dogs on the wide open ranges of Wyoming. With one-piece tube design, the Talos line includes an assortment of specialty scopes for big-game, varmint, MSR’s, 22 rimfire, slug, black powder, and turkey hunting.

Very high quality scope and clear glass for the money. Definitely on par with Vortex, maybe better!

Excellent glass for the money. Great power range. Clear optics. Power ring and turrets neither too hard nor too easy to operate. I put it on a bolt action 308 hunting rifle. I used medium rings. There were some problems mounting it. The tube was too short to mount on the 1 pc. picatinny type base I was using so I had to modify the forward end of the base to clear the ocular bell. Then the nitrogen purge/fill tube below the turrets is very large and prevented the scope from being mounted because of the mounting slots. So I got out my dremel again to modify that. Finally the knob on the power ring was interfering with the bolt handle so I filed down the knob as well as the bolt handle until it cleared. If you have no experience making these sort of modifications I would advise taking the rig to a gunsmith.
After I completed the modifications I was very happy. I zeroed at 200 yds. (about min. of angle groups) and will use the mil dots if longer shots are necessary. I am happy with my new pseudo tactical bolt action 308.

I have purchased a second Talos rifle scope, this time the 3-12×40 with the 600 bdc reticle. I went down to the local Sportsman’s Warehouse to look through the various scopes. I looked at the lower end Vortex, Nikon, and Leopold scopes and did not like the reticle thickness, wash out at full power on the edges, or lack of options like illumination. I have a handful of less than $200 dollar scopes that seemed to outperform what I was finding so I was hesitant to spend money on what I was told to be good optics. That is what led me to read up on Athlon and their push into the market so I purchased my first scope and was impressed at the clarity, the etched reticle, and features for a great price. I have mounted my scopes to .308’s and dialed them in sub moa with no issue. I like the simple reticle that does not confuse my sight picture with extra markings. I have also had excellent response from customer service about questions I have had. There are a lot of scope critics out there that say you have to pay a similar amount for a scope as you do for your designer gun going into the $1000 plus dollar range. Growing up with a basic duplex reticle on a 30.06 I know different. These scopes will get the job done without breaking the bank.
